Artist Bio

Jordan Allen is a young artist originally from in St. Paul, Minnesota, who relocated to New York in 2017. Raised by a single mother and the only male of three children, his experiences as a black man in America and upbringing have inspired him to create a brief body of work titled, The Human Schematic of the Black Man. It seeks to explore the relationship the black male has with himself and the black woman, more specifically the black mother. Diving deeper beneath the skin; analyzing his demons, dreams and our daughters. Investigating how the conscious and subconscious mind work in tandem to create an individual.

Allen’s work lends itself toward galvanizing critical thinking in this generation and beyond — through “A Modern Violet” his independent outlet for original multimedia and visual art work; but more importantly he is motivated by the opportunity to communicate with, and inspire like minded individuals to achieve their ultimate goals.

The fight against mediocrity. We believe the world is so much bigger than the walls of a cubicle and a computer screen. People are shamed if they don’t follow traditional paths in society of going to college, getting a house with the fence but more importantly being unhappy. “A Modern Violet” is about taking ridicule & low expectations, and using them as fuel. Your own definition of Success is your Revenge!

It all started in 2014 as a dream of a boy painting in his grandma’s living room.
